| "Ethics to Security and Privacy" |
Ethics is doing the right thing at the right moment. For example, when we have the responsibility to take care of some data, we cannot manipulate it in order to take advantage for the sake of self.
Security is the prevention process of information assets and information from any malicious threats. The prevention includes detection, prevention, and response to threats through the use of security policies, software tools and IT services. For example, in Facebook application, we need to change the security setting if we did not want people to see our posting.
Privacy is the aspect of security that deals with the ability of an organization or individual has to determine what data in a computer system can be shared with third parties. Broken privacy can be detested when people know what you don't want intend to share but people know about it. From what i learnt, our sharing of thought is considered as privacy.
At the end of class, we learnt that information system can be used for most of good things. but, if you don't have ethics, it can cause many negative things.
In our lab session, we had discussed about "how to make our website become interesting". Dr Fareed had gave us some of the website tips, for example in term of appearance. In order to make it less messy, we should use 2 - 3 colour only and it must have a flow, started from homepage/ first page until contact. The font used must be in 10 - 12 points in order for easily read.
Next, we learnt about how to use Wayback Machine application. this application can let us know the evolution of website (exclude social media application) since it's first introduction. But, it can't detect the evolution when the admin change the domain of the website. Over the years, Switzerland is the first country that use website as their tourism website (swiss.my), whereas Malaysia is the third country. We also learnt about Alexa.com in order to detect the popularity of website.
Lastly, we did the exercise that use spreadsheet / Microsoft Excel. From my opinion, this exercise can benefit me to master in using spreadsheet. Spreadsheet can reduce the burden in collecting information. It is not just have rows and columns, but also can help us to create formula, perform calculation, develop graphs, charts and many more. So, if i have an enough skill in using spreadsheet, i can organize and interpret my data easily. it also can be my credit to be employed by company since i might beat other candidates who are not familiar with this spreadsheet. Hehehe..... Plus, Nowadays, many business and organization seek candidates with strong skills to analyze the data.
